The Birth of HelpfulHeroes

HelpfulHeroes arose out of my desire to help. I have received help from so many people over the years, and I have seen the work that others do in helping the homeless of the world as well as the sick and injured. I realized that now it is my turn.

But what could I do? Although the city is not so far, I live close to the wilderness in Southern British Columbia where there are few homeless people and few near me who are going hungry—but I wanted to help. I can, and do donate money to worthy causes, but I wanted to actually do something to at least moderate the flow of bad news in the world with a little good news.

I looked at my skills and thought about what I could do to make a difference. Helpful Heroes is the result, but I also hope it is the beginning of something great. I have donated my time to promote the good deeds of others in the hope that those who read these hero's stories will be inspired by their compassion and selflessness and thereby inspire others and begin the snowball effect I am looking for.

With your help and the submission of your stories we can make Helpful Heroes large enough that people will notice and together we can make a difference. The more stories we have here the more pages we have on the net. This will create a large public base of keywords that the search engines love to gobble up. News and information is what the search engines, like Google, love to devour and later send to the search results pages when you or I enter a search term. Thus, the more stories we have on Helpful Heroes the more chance there is of people finding us, and that is the ultimate goal—to spread the word about these everyday heroes in the hope that it will help others to see the good in the world and create a desire to help their neighbors and become heroes themselves.
